Another flintlocke trivia tale. On highway 101 north of Hoquiam Wash there was a nice old tavern, good food, cheap draft, level pool tables etc. Some locals decided to take me there on a rainy Sunday, I forget the name exactly, Red Rooster Tavern maybe...but my friends kept calling it Stubville. I said surely you mean Stumpville...no they assured me it was Stubville. Anyway we went, played, drank, ate...but it soon became apparent why they called it Stubville. There were a few red cedar shake and shingle mills close by, the main source of employment, and literally every local male had one or more digits missing.
