Just a heads up to anyone that may want it. Elk County Ammo and Arms has one for sale. Expensive. But they are hard to come by. https://ammoandarmsstore.com/47118/

It is a very busy gun. But I recall some folks on this sight commenting they wanted one in .30-06. There it is. In all it's Elephant-man-esque beauty. They don't come up for sale very often.

Stock laminate colors and recoil pad are nothing new. Same stock on 1 or 2 cartridge offerings in the Hawkeye Predator line.
Camo stock and adjustable LOP.

A guy I know has one, he put it in a B&C. Weighs 7lbs 11 oz in the B&C stock. He's getting it rebored to 35 whelen. I bet it'll go 7.5 lbs after the rebore.

A $1250 ruger hawkeye that needs a new stock is a tough swallow.

They sell fast up here in Alaska. I think the prices are reasonable.
Was offered that b&c stocked guide gun at $1000.
Another one in 30-06 just sold in fairbanks for $900, new in box.

Yeah. A great action and nice barrels but between the muzzle brake and the odd butt it’s not a 77 I’d ever own. Only useful to me as a donor.

I'd take it just the way it is. Maybe I'm too "modern"

Mb I don’t think a man could ever go wrong with a 9.3x62, so yeah sure. But really, that action and the New Haven M70s are the last of the reliable actions for a working rifle

Really wish Ruger would just bring back the standard Hawkeye in walnut/blued. Enough with the bizarre pads and 20MOA rails and the hideous muzzle on the hunter model...

I had one that I planned to put into a boat paddle stock I have. The barrel contour was just too heavy for what I wanted and someone offered me good money for it. I thought about having it rebored to 9.3x62 but I was able to get enough money out of it to get a good start on a custom.
I used to have a stainless synthetic 338 rcm with open sights on a 20" barrel and I liked to carry it. The guide gun was much heavier. If they'd do a stainless synthetic 30-06 with their standard sporter in 20" with sights I'd buy one.
