In the defense of eateries, if they don't raise prices, they go out of business. That's it, plain and simple.

I agree the current administration has royally screwed up our economy. I'm just calling BS on blaming everything on the minimum wage when it's the same it was 15 years ago in most states. It's about as dumb as democrats blaming everything on "climate change", both are intellectually lazy.

Part of it. Also they expanded for a once in a lifetime and TEMPORARY event - Covid while delusional thinking was that those volumes will be forever volumes.

Now package volume has regressed to the mean amd they're hang chow. That's true, but a LOT of the complaints are from places where the minimum wage has been pumped up. McD headquarters probably have to average out all the costs nationwide to come up with a single burger price. McDoofus can't have a price in Mizzippi that's lower than the one in Californicator.

I’m sure the portions will get smaller and the % of artificial ingredients will get larger.

In N Out is cheaper, better, and takes less time.

Burger King is holding up size wise but with a near 30% price jump. We'd hit them when traveling to the tune of about $18 for meals and drink. Last stop was $28.

yea, smaller food sizes is definitely happening. Noticed it big time at Wendys

problem with McDonalds is they have a key product that has weight built into the name, unless they rename it the Royale with Cheese

I noticed that the other day when I went to buy some HÄAGEN-DAZS ice cream. I think they used a Thimble as the casting mold to make their new containers, price has not changed though, easy pass.

McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski addressed the uproar over soaring prices and has promised "affordability" in 2024.

According to Entrepreneur, Kempczinski spoke on an earnings call Monday and said the fast-food giant might tweak its menu with a new focus on affordability. Per the outlet, Kempczinski said higher menu prices led to McDonald's seeing a negative turn in sales during the last quarter.

"I think what you're going to see as you head into 2024 is probably more attention to what I would describe as affordability," Kempczinski said during the call, per the outlet.

According to Entrepreneur, McDonald's experienced its first quarterly sales miss internationally in almost four years during the fourth quarter of 2023, allegedly due to the conflict in the Middle East. Per the outlet, McDonald's believes Israel's war on Hamas will continue to affect revenue into the first quarter of 2024 and potentially the second quarter.

"Eating at home has become more affordable," Kempczinski said, per the outlet. "The battleground is certainly with that low-income consumer."

It's really simple, the only thing retail is interested in anymore is how much they can make you pay, MD has discovered the break point for their product, that is all.

I noticed that Amazon is now delivering a lot of it's own packages in some markets. That can't help either. Amazon up in my AK neck of the woods swings back an forth between UPS and USPS. Seems like right now they are liking USPS for a lot of the stuff.

I quit fast food and most chain restaurants when covid started and mom and pops were struggling. I have them my business which I knew they would appreciate much more. And with all the crap about lab grown meat I'm good staying far away from those places

Amazon delivers 6B packages themselves last year and delivers more than FedEx does. Amazon was UPS's largest client and as they continue to build out their native capabilities- that's shrinking for UPS.

Was off on Coyote numbers. They bought it for 1.8b. Seeing valuation from 200-400m.

Would not be shocked if Jeff Silver buys it back and rolls Mastery into it.

Min wage?
What is that?
It used to be starting wage here, or the number they added 25 or 50 cents to,
"We pay over minimum wage!"

Technically, it's still $7.25.
My wife starts 16 year olds at $13 to work a c- store.

Talk of minimum wage raising prices in many businesses is just common sense.
It crumbles under serious investigation.

A good friend works at Sheetz headquarters, he walks through a part of the warehouse going to lunch. Right down the aisle where they keep Help Wanted signs.
3-4 identical signs, except the starting wage varies.
By $3/hr.
Depending on where.
This is a cheap area, the truck drivers here work cheaper too.
However, a Coke, hot dog, or Snickers costs the same.
Here in Bedford, in Ohio, rural West Virginia, or Northern Virginia.

Rocky,
I don't think averaging prices would work for Ronald.
Most stores are owned by franchisees.
The guys owning the stores getting better margins isn't going to help
the ones who own stores in higher wage areas.

You can eat fast casual american, chinese, japanese, mexican etc for about the same price as ff joints these days. It's absurd, but as long as the herd keeps hitting the drive thru and eating in their car the prices will not come back to reality.
