I'm putting something together towards the end of this year for giggles. Not that I've any glaring holes in my arsenal or anything new to kill a deer every couple years, but, I've looked at Howa Mini's (waiting on a .22ARC), looked at Tikka .223's (have a T1X and love it), and kicked around putting something together. Honestly suffering a bit of paralysis by analysis.

I have an Origin and 24" Sendero contour Bartlein (.22BR) in a KRG Bravo Chassis with an XTRIII 5.5-30 on it. Suppressor, bipod and all it weighs right around 19lbs. Heavy, but all I do with it is shoot steel matches with it so it's perfect. What I want, is its little brother in a more traditional stock.

So I'm thinking another Origin, Grayboe Terrain, and something like a 20" Light Palma or 3B contour. Athlon 2-12 on top, plus suppressor for around 10-11 lbs. It'll probably be a .223 Ackley if I go that route. Also curious how that rig will balance, preferably right in front of the M5 Bottom Metal with the suppressor attached (which it will be).

Any thoughts?

I did notice the Terrain's been discontinued (along with the Outlander), so if I want one, I thought I'd grab one from RHR pretty quick while they still have some.

223AI's are fun, that sounds like a good all around build, Light Palma would be about right. You planning on a 7 or 7.5 twist for shooting the heavies?

Leaning 1:7 at this point. No slower than 7.5.

My problem is, I LOVE 88’s and 75’s out of my .22BR, but I also REALLY like 53 V-maxes.

The easy button would be 1:7.5 with a .06 to .08 throat and fling 75 ELDM’s through it full time. I need to do some measuring and see where everything plays out.

Biggest thing is, I wonder how it’s going to handle. Particularly with the 12oz can hanging on the end.
It will be a hunting/range gun.
The 19lb BR is what it is. I stuck some lead in the butt and now (with can) it balances right in front of the mag. Regardless, she ain’t what you’d call dynamic.
