All:

I finally got into the TSS game. After reading a review on 12 gauge 3 inch APEX GT-3 ammo, I gave it a try. This ammo is a massive game changer. I can easily and consistently put 15+ holes in the head at 75 yards. I haven’t tried farther than that but I bet it could do 80 yards easily.

Yes, very expensive but highly recommend it. I am not sure if all TSS loads are the same or not.

I think of all the birds I could have had in the past!

God bless,
RAS

TSS shot put me in a 20ga for sure! As I've said here before, when I first heard the claims of #9 TSS from a 20, I thought BS, #9's are for skeet! Then I finally tried it and wow! I've only ever used Federal, no experience with any other brand.

The Federal is good stuff no doubt, but it doesn’t hang with the Apex. To be fair though, the specs are different. The the Federal is 1 1/2oz and rated 1100fps. The Apex is 1 5/8 and rated 1175. So I’m guessing Apex is using more powder or a different powder. Win win regardless.

When I shot them both at a large target I was getting around 530 hits with federal(not sure what federal specs). Apex specs 590 and I was getting pretty close to that.

Federal now may make something on par with the Apex, but I’m just sticking with Apex.

You can handload your own TSS for a fraction of the cost of the factory stuff.
