They aren't the solution to every issue. Heavy. I will say that I would not even think of running a light bullet if I was going to shoot 223 out past 250 much. The heavies buck the wind so much better. And while I have had a few weird things over the years with light bullets in 223, anything over 68/69 grains that we have shot game with, nothing has ever gotten away.

I know if there were no houses around close to us, I would have zero use for light bullets. I"d probably just have every gun tied in for 75/77 bthp and call it a year round all around gun for anything that we run into.

I certainly keep 75s in the gun in Alaska. LOL.

In a .22 centerfire other than a 60 grain Partition at most for deer I like a 50 as much as anything. Been wanting to try 40s for maximum goo and feather explosion factor.

I’m not picking on you either, but I was referring to ‘on game’.

If the lightest I mentioned was 50-55gr stuff, I obviously don’t worry about ‘exploding’ a bullet from twist rate.

The point was that construction on some the heavies is more questionable than a 55gr V-Max, though I run a lot of 75-77s.

absolutely got it now. Reading typed words sometimes in a hurry mostly, and I just missed what you were saying. Makes total sense.

most of the times how a bullet holds together is related mostly to construction and not weight so much.

You should be fine. It has been my experience that twist rate and bullet construction only become a really big deal (meaning they will come apart during flight) once the barrel gets hot. So just take your time shooting and keep an eye on the temp of your barrel.

Now if your hunting groudhogs or something like that which could require a lot of fire, at a fast rate then you might want to go a bit heavier or a differently constructed bullet.

Thats not always the case. I can't actually say that I've seen it happen after the barrel was hot. It either did it on the first shots or not.

Not saying it doesn't happen after hot though. Just never seen it.

6 made it to a 40 yard target earlier. About a 1 inch group resting on corner of the building.

Probably good to go.
