Will a 35 Rem chamber clean out with a 358 Win reamer? This is a bolt action rifle.

Yes, but that's the easy part. Reworking the magazine and feed lips to feed the new round can be easy or hard, depending on what the rifle is

I think I'd set the barrel back a thread or two. Rim dia might be a consideration, 358Win = .473", 35 Rem =.460" .

Yes, but that's the easy part. Reworking the magazine and feed lips to feed the new round can be easy or hard, depending on what the rifle is The rifle started out with a 243 Win barrel. AFAIK no mods were made other than a M16 extractor when the 35 Rem barrel was installed. Win Model 70 with pushfeed action.

The bolt face is already "too large" for the 35 Remington and may be a problem as it sits. (Only you can tell us that, but we can't tell you) But because it WAS a 243 at first the bolt face is perfect for a 358.
So making a 358 Win from a 243 Win would have been just a simple rebarrel. Because of that history, there is no need at all to set the 35 Rem barrel back, as the 35 Rem shell is 1.920" long and the 358 win shell is 2.015 long. So a 358 Win finish reamer will clean up the old chamber in both diameter and length.

No problem at all, lots of 35 Rem 760's have been rechambered to 358.

Wish that would work with a m141 or m14 Remington but as particular as they are about ammo I would bet it wouldn't .
Grumpy old man with a gun.....Do not touch . Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Don't bother my monument and I'll leave yours alone.

Curious about the .358 conversion of the 760 Remington. My 760 .35 has a bolt head stamped .35 on it. Seems to me, one would need a different bolt head and not just a simple rechamber. Btw, my bolt will not accept a .473 ( .308, .30-06 etc)case rim .
Keepin my back green and my powder dry. The LORD bless and keep you

I keep forgetting how old I am, 'cause l remember when you could just order a new, or maybe used, 760 bolt assembly from GPC or Jack First.

No problem at all, lots of 35 Rem 760's have been rechambered to 358. I've witnessed a 35 Remington barrel being re-chambered to 35 Whelen and there was no problem with bolt face dimensions. I'd guess, but not sure that Remington used the same bolt face on the 760's - that is the 308 vs 35 Rem.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I have a Remington 760 in 35 Remington that was made in January 1954 and there are no cartidge stamps on the bolt. I have a Remington Model 8 that has 35 Rem stamped on the bolt but not the 760.
