Yes I thought I had priced it right for a Featherweight.

Why has this not moved? Come on people everybody , if they claim to a rifleman,has to own a pre 64 model 70 . I have my share including one in same same caliber but it’s still hard to pass up even as a shooter.

Must be the economy even though the administration tells us economy is great!!

Yes sir, agree with all you wrote my friend, but I love his acting as well, there hasn't been anyone like him since he passed away.
I hope this Pre 64 sells, its a great rifle and in normal times it would have fetched over 1k and sold within minutes.

You are 100% , correct. There were a lot of real men in Hollywood in Wayne’s era, contrast that with today’s leading men, many of who, are great actors but are small in stature, do not project the maleness or values of the old timers plus most of them neither appreciate American nor care for the nations honor and heritage

I will give this just a little longer before I part it out.

There looks to be a barrel band with the Allen screw
So the stock was altered to fit
Hurts it collected value but as a shooter it’s just fine
The band on the barrel probbly can’t be removed without damage to finish. But it’s still a great rifle for the money.

I posted that the band is lose and can easily be removed. The small allen head screw hole can easily be filled. This rifle has a lot of potential.

Amen!!! Great listing and honest details. Good luck with the sale of the rifle buddy. It's a shame what that guy did to it, but if it shoots, I'd just use it like it is. Someone could do like you said as well, and fill in the hole and remove the band. Generally these fwt's shoot lights out with a full freefloat on the barrel. Or bedding under the chamber, in the recoil lug and tang. I'm assuming this rifle is not glass bedded. They probably could have got it to shoot very well, with a good glass bedding job and proper freefloat. But if the receiver was a little sloppy in the stock, then securing the barrel like it is, will sometimes help with accuracy. Real oldschool way of attacking it though.

I am going to withdraw this. I took it apart, removed the barrel band and will just fill in the small hole in the stock and shoot it. Thanks all for the kind words.

I am pre-64 poor and was just offering to share the wealth. The rifle already looks totally different and I can't wait to get it to the range.

Pre 64 poor, never heard that one before, I kind of like it. It's a condition that needs to be fixed.
