Or, because of the large land mass of the country, & large areas of that land mass controlled by conservatives, Balkanization & a breakup of the Republic could possibly happen.
But that would invite invasion & attack by several possible outside entities.................so I dunno, as I cannot see a good end to the current morass......................it's been allowed to progress too far for too long when it should have been ended long ago.
Just shows that you cannot placate the devil hoping for happy coexistence.
One side or the other has to prevail, one way or another no matter the cost or the reluctance.

I never leaned way left but was confused when the first intellectuals I knew laughed about the best government being one that could not pass any new laws. I get it now! The Depression made New Deal handouts and big government seem essential. People were suffering.
