20 odd years ago I bought a Rem 700 PSS and installed a Redfield short action one piece base. The base only uses 3 screws to mount. I am changing scopes and hope to get it to the range more often. The question is " Is there any reason to change to a two piece or one piece mount that would use all four screws?

I like the DNZ Gamereaper mounts for a one piece solid scope mount ring combo, they're a tad pricey but it's all together. My son has them on 3 rifles and wouldn't try anything else, they are solid and easy to install.

Rock on the way it is unless you just want to change it or the new scope needs a different.

I have a 3 screw one piece Redfield mounted on a Model 7 223 that has the 4 hole set up. It is my truck gun and has been bounced around for many a mile and I've never once had a problem. Although I prefer the four screw mounts, I don't believe they are necessary on a light recoiling rifle.

If you are putting on a 1 1/2 pound scope, I'd go four.

If you actually fhuqking shoot,it matters muchly,if it's for looking at,then it doesn't make a schit. The Redfield "system" cited,is easily amongst the greatest Goat Fhuqks ever contrived,as actual use goes. Hint.
Ring spacing and surface area, are a scope's BEST friend(all scopes). Hint.
Just sayin'...............
