I am finding nothing good bad or ugly regarding bullets heavier than 40 grains from the 20 VT. The discontinued 45 grain Hornady SP is of interest for me i suppose. Granted top velocity will not be experienced Though in many cases top velocity will not be required.
The 45 gr SP is a rather short bullet. I see no reason why this won't stabilize in the 11 twist.

i never went up to 40gr, 34gr Midway/Midsouth HP and 32gr Hornady/Nosler are it. i've killed groundhogs out to 300+ yards and foxes/coyotes out to 150 yards. i really gotta find out how fast it is going, i always leave the chronograph in the closet.

I've used 40 V-max, CFEBLK, and CCI 400s @ 3400 exclusively in 20VT for PDs.
Although the VT with 40s is always my primary PD gun I think .224 40s at the same velocity provides a little more splat.
With current Vmax pricing I'm gonna try some Speer .204 TNTs this.year...

I've got 2, both Cooper factory model 38's. Fantastic on P-dogs. I use 32 Blitzkings and CFEBLK 3700fps, it's got plenty of splat.

Suppose Id like to verify what bushings folks are using for various brass?
Nosler .221 FB neck FB bushing ID =
Lapua .221 FB neck bushing ID -
Remington .221 FB Neck bushing ID =
Think I have seen Nosler neck wall thickness runs about the same.
I have inquired w Pacnor to get an idea as to what to expect in terms of neck diameter & free bore.

Unless you have had the 20VT chambered with the reamer set up for the Lapua 221FB brass I would stay away from it. The Lapua brass requires .002 bigger at the .200 line to stay away from clickers and a neck of .235- .236 for no turn. Loaded rounds with Lapua will run .2315 give or take .0005.

Ok, I'll take this into consideration & save the Lapua for the 221 fireball. Happy this was brought to my attention as I could easily have had a mis-understood poor experience due to selecting the wrong brass for the application at hand.
