Greg, I have never had to use either their warranty or customer service. I rate that as positive. I think that they are good at replacing broken parts (the wind paddles are the usual thing).
The only issues I've had are replacing the CR123 backup battery every 18 months or so, and getting false rain amounts when the wind blows just the wrong way. Battery replacement requires climbing up on the roof, but is otherwise dead simple. I found directions to correct the false rain amounts online, also simple.
I have an Accu-Rite machine in the kitchen, just for temps and simple stuff. No wind or rain gauges. It has always read about two degrees hot and there's no way to re-calibrate it that I can find. But knowing that I just make a mental correction to the readout. It's an okay machine, but nowhere near as good as the Davis. Good stuff... Had my Davis Weather Pro around 15 year with no problems .

I have had a LaCrosse for about 8 years or so. The outside unit is on top of the garage and uses a rechargable 2032 battery, solar powered. At first, a battery would last about a year, then the longevity started dropping, until now I'm lucky to get 3 months out of one. I guess the solar charger has lost the ability to keep a battery charged. Otherwise, it's been a good unit.

Avoid LaCrosse, Greg. I also had one of those. It was junk.
I bought and used several of the cheap systems before becoming so frustrated and disappointed that I bit the bullet for my Davis.
There are probably two or three decent makers besides Davis. I haven't owned any of them so can't say one way or the other.

I have the $120 accurite, its ok, pretty basic for the money - I would prefer it also tell the pressure like some of the others on here , but if you're happy with temp, rain amount, wind speed and direction, then it will do a good job. I have the outdoor station about 250ft from the the indoor unit with no issues.
