Stole this idea from the deer hunting forum. It's pretty cool to see some of these old pictures. 12 year old me Mossberg 500 12 gauge No idea on the shells I'm sure it was the cheapest thing my dad could find at Walmart because that's his style

Good thread! Fall of 1991, I was 12. Remington 1100 ,12 gauge 2 3/4” high brass #4’s.
Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

I know I don't have any pictures of the first several I killed. I hunted by myself and never thought about taking any.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Oh man, I was 12 in 1976 when I crushed my first gobbler. Singler shot H&R 10ga shooting #4 buck shot. I remember it like it was yesterday, my parents had a pic but I have no clue what became of it.
Don't gobble at me

1980 - 1981-ish
Winchester 1200 12 gauge and a Federal 2 3/4" magnum #2 shot.
Only photographic evidence is a pair of totally crappy, blurry Polaroids.

Single shot H&R 10ga shooting #4 buck shot. Uh huh. From back in the day when you used ammo that would "break 'em down". Nobody had ever, yet heard of this 10" circle nonsense.

Back when I first started loading my own turkey shells, my only concern was if the shot would perforate a metal soup can at 30 yards...

Sons first, double bearded too. Lucky joker. We watched the top of his fan over a hill for an hour, about 200 yards away, strutted the entire time with a hen. You think he left, but 10 minutes later youd barely see the fan again. He was way up there by the far powerpole in pic. Fairly confident he would come our way when done and he did. Gobbled once about half way to us.

This was my first longbeard. I believe I was 21ish. At the time in my neck of the woods a gobbler was like a 6 point bull. I hunted every day for 2 weeks and finally got it done. You have no idea what a thrill it was. I used my new then Winchester 1300.....new to me that is. I bought it used. Love that shotgun.

I'll be 60 next month, still hoping for my first. I took both my sons when they were boys in youth seasons. They both have gone on to get many more now that they are grown. One of my daughter in laws has shot 3. We don't have a many where we hunt , so I leave them to my kids. Have 3 little grandsons with another one coming. I hope I see them get their first turkeys, deer and pheasants/quail. Good pictures
