Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. Winston Churchill.
Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you!

Remember why, specifically, the Bill of Rights was written...remember its purpose. It was written to limit the power of government over the individual.

I'm paranoid enough to think there is AI assimilating all our online accounts to get a full picture of who we are and what we are doing. Sending alerts to certain agencies when thresholds are met. Truck forum here. Car forum there. Gun forum. Email. Yeah, they are getting a complete picture and may know more about us than we do. I'm on a list. Probably several.
I'm more concerned about the alcoholic drug abusing transplanted Californian neighbor that's always in his yard with a revolver stuffed in his pants than I am the people watching me.
I have said on here several times in the past on different threads that when it comes to government, I’m definitely a little paranoid. Now can you look at the Bribem administration and what they have done since taking office and tell me my fear is unfounded?😀 For crying out loud, this government is at war with its own citizens, and supporting illegal aliens over the people who grew up here! Give me a logical reason for the things that are happening. Either the government has taken on a life of it’s own and fears it’s own citizens, or we’re all Just paranoid and crazy.
"Preserving the Constitution, fighting off the nibblers and chippers, even nibblers and chippers with good intentions, was once regarded by conservatives as the first duty of the citizen. It still is." Wesley Pruden

I've been a somewhat public person since college, less so now than then. I grew up with a locally recognizable family name. Dad always kept a low profile and thankfully we were no longer newsworthy by the time I came into this world. However, if the kids I grew up with didn't know my name, their folks filled them in.
I had a pretty high profile after college. I was a writer for the local underground magazine. I had big parties at the coffee house. For some reason, the local pagan community decided to adopt me, even though I showed open contempt for them. I also got on the last nerve of the local Hari Krishnas ashram. They plotted for years to do bad things to me. I finally met their business manager at a writers' group. When I explained myself, he laughed and said he'd take care of it. I actually liked the Krishnas. If I was down on cash, I could bum a free meal at the Ashram. I just never stayed for the floor show.
Bottom line: by the time the internet came around, I'd been around the block.
One of the chief things I learned was not to be deliberately flamboyant. Dad had all sorts of local celebrity friends. Half had stage names. All of them led modest lives. If you drove by their houses, nothing was sticking out. They just blended in with the rest of the neighborhood. Everybody had unlisted phone numbers. They did not drive expensive automobiles.
Another basic rule was accessibility. Nobody can hide. If you hide, they try to find you.
Don't boast. Don't lie. You will be found out and punished for it.
When I started having a more public appearance on the Internet, I followed those rules. I culture a persona, the shaman, that is low-key. It is not much different from my own. I try to keep what the shaman does separate from what I do in the real world. I'm sure, if you go out there, you can find me. However, I was an early adopter of both BBS and Internet technology. In 40 years, I've not had anyone show up to my doorstep.
I've been having people try to hack my password since before some of you were born. It has only been accomplished once, and it came from a hacked site. They managed to get at my Ebay account and ordered a vacuum cleaner. I was deer hunting at the time. Still, I got the leak plugged in 6 hours and changed all my passwords. They shipped the vacuum to the house (WT?) I returned it to the vendor and paid $20 shipping.
