Does anyone know why Hornady discontinued the Interbond? It's not even a search option on their website, it lists the eld, eldx, cx etc but no interbond option. It was great projectile.

Does anyone know why Hornady discontinued the Interbond? Because Hornady allways discontinue bullets that work. Duh

It's because I worked up a load. Everything I use will be discontinued just because I use it. Powder or bullet it doesn't matter, I am cursed.

My guess is they got a bad rap because many shooters think you need one hole groups to kill stuff and the Interbond was a HUNTING bullet, not a target bullet and it got a reputation for not being accurate. Shame because they provide outstanding terminal performance IMO.

The Interbond still has its own splash page on Hornady's website, just no offerings in any calibers.
Dunno why it was dropped - did they have troubles making bonded bullets perform? did they decide LR cup-n-core and Mono bullets were the future?
The only bonded they make now is in their DGX line, and that begins at .375.
The 165 grain Interbond in .30 driven at .308 & .30-06 typical velocities have been great performers for me, so when the whispers about them going away surfaced I bought a pile of them.
Enough to wear out a barrel or two.

Not a big deal to me that the Interbond is discontinued.

Not target guns." Meanwhile the M-70, Sako....just yawn.

I had fantastic results with the .277", 150gr IB out of my boat paddle Ruger All-weather .270 WCF. Not accurate?? They were consistently sub-MOA out of my rifle, as well as a Win 70 and a Rem 700 belonging to friends. They were/are my favorite all-around whitetail bullet for my .270. I regret not having tried them in other calibers. And I really wish I had known they were going to be discontinued and laid in a big supply of them.

I had excellent results, both with accuracy and terminal performance, with the .264 129 grain IB at 2700 fps. Have a few, sad they are discontinued.

I asked the Hornady dude in their booth at SCI last year. He said they are very busy and were focusing on making California bullets. Not enough room on the line for the Interbond. He tried to talk me into using the CA bullet. I smiled and walked away thinking Nosler Acubond.

Hornady has said multiple times in their podcasts it is hard for them to get bonded bullets to shoot accurately. I have not gotten interbonds to shoot in couple cals I have tried so tend to agree. Much better luck with sciroccos and accubonds. Hornady’s market are the thin jacketed highest possible BC bullets and expect they are happy with how that is working for them

Accubonds are more accurate, only use Hornaduds in my 32-40, cause they are all I can get, but in their defense they slice and dice the cshit out of pigs windows 7 print screen

I ended up with a 7 rum Awr and decided I needed a bonded bullet and tried the 154 interbonds. They shot very well and held up good on deer and elk so fast forward several years needing bullets I bought some more which shot like shiit some were over pressure so I started trying to find the problem. This was circa 2010 or so and what I found was the weight difference between the lightest and heaviest bullet of the 80 or so bullets left in that box was large enough I won’t put the numbers up here. I ended up sorting out the remaining bullets that were within a couple of tenths of a grain and the rifle shot like it was supposed too. When I needed more bullets I tried the 160 accubonds which shot well but I couldn’t get the velocity I wanted without hitting high pressure first. I’m not sure how the lot I bought could have gotten past QC.

Hornady just don’t believe in bonded bullets. IMO the equivalent weight SST’s have been more accurate than the Interbonds (.30 165gr, 7mm 154gr.)

I asked a Hornady staffer about the Interbond. They believe that between their soft ELD-X line and the much tougher CX line, that they've got our needs pretty well covered. I tend to concur, but was curious, so I asked.

Hey Cascade, you must have talked to the same guy I asked why no 300 grain DGX-Bonded to pair up with the 300 grain DGS they offer for the 9.3.
He said "the Interlock is a proven performer". Yea, right. I'll use the Interlock on Cape Buffalo.

The worst shooting bullet I ever tried was Hornady factory load 7mm Weatherby Interbonds. Almost sold the rifle until I fired a few 150 gr TTSX handloads. I haven’t shot a Hornady bullet at a game animal since.

I tried some factory loads with the Interbond and was not impressed with the accuracy. I have some in 7mm that maybe I will have to try and see if they shoot.

That is the reason when I find a bullet my rifle likes I load up and I mean I load up on them.
