300WSM shooters, have any of you stumbled across a decent load that has worked across multiple rifles with little fuss? I picked up a used SS Vanguard Sub-MOA not long ago and am looking to at least verify that it has potential before I spend funds to ship it off for chopping/threading for suppression. I could use a plug-and-play load that's not at absolute redline.
Acceptable bullets on hand are the 150 NBT/NAB, 155 Scenar, 168 NBT, 165 SST, all of which have generally been accurate enough in various .30cal rifles.
Reasonable powders on hand in good quantities are RL15, RL17, H4350, Big Game, and Hunter.
Thanks!

I found a load with IMR4320 and 165 gr SST’s that worked in both of mine. I ended up selling the Rem 700 SPS SS one that the load was actually worked up for. Honestly, it was the easiest load I’ve ever worked up. I was just trying get rid of the SST’s. Loaded them up and got a 3 shot group of 1/2” at 100 yds. Moved to 5 shot groups with the load and stayed right at .8” with it. My Tikka doesn’t like the load as much, but it still under an 1” at 100.

I bought a 1 pound container last year new, that still had the red metal top on it. You know that was some new old stock tucked away.

There was an article several years back on 6mmBR about substituting 4320 for popular powders that were unobtanium at that time (Varget, 4350, RL15) because you could still find 4320. Now the others are back on shelves but 4320 is not. Funny how that works.

Yet, they feel the need to put RL 15.5 on the shelves. Shaking head here. As for "generic" loads, in the 300WSM. I've found 64 grains of H4350, and just about any 165gr bullet, to work very well in most 300WSM's I've had.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Bsa, Interesting info. I just found 8# jugs of RL-15 & RL-17. Got 1 of each to start developing 300wsm loads with 165's & 180's.

I've loaded for a couple. Imr 7828 now the 7828SSC and a 180 gr accubond loaded to mag length in a couple different 700s was under 3/4" of an inch.

Good info here so far. I’m leaning toward the 150-168gr class of bullets to keep velocity up in the short barrel. Probably cutting at 18.5” to make room for the 6.5” added by the can. I figure 2,900-2,950 or so should be doable, maybe 3,050-3,100 with a 150/155.

4064 or Vargay with the 150/155 gr bullet.
Look at Noisier data for 4064 (their accuracy powder) for this weight bullet. Couldn't get anything else to shoot well in my Kimber Montana 300 Wizzum

With the 165-168gr,a good starting point would be 64.0grs of Big Game,65.0grs of H4350 and 67.0grs of Hunter. You should be able to go up a grain or so with those loads, but you should find good accuracy with them.

I’ll also add I’ve had great luck with IMR and H4350. Magpro is darn good as well. For some reason, my Tikka prefers 180 gr. bullets.

Very close is the one I found using 64gr Hunter, any 168gr, magnum primer.
