Isn't that just admitting that they are rigged?

When I lived in Winnemucca Nevada, I was pretty friendly with the owner of the local casino. I worked in eather and he flew all over getting fresh sea food for the casino. One day my wife and I ere having lunch at the casino, something we rarely did for one reason or another when Mr. M. came up and said hello. Told the server our meal was on the house and pointed to a silver dollar slot machine and said he that that one was ripe for the picking. Just play on dollar. I did and 500 beautiful silver dollars came tumbling down. He took care of us weather people and we always went out of out way to give him the best weather briefings possible. Sometimes, weather permitting we'd help him unload his plane. One time he'd come back from Maine and after unloading the plane gave me two huge lobster for the wife and I to enjoy. Sadly, he and all but his daughter died in a plane crash. His daughter didn't want to do the trip as she wasn't feeling well and stayed home. RIP Joe. You ere one of the good guys for sure.

I do a raffle. Only 100 tickets are sold and you can only buy 1 ticket. You've got a 1 in 100 chance of winning. 1% chance
I do a second raffle. Only 10 tickets are sold and you can only buy 1 ticket. You've got a 1 in 10 chance of winning. 10% chance

Second raffle doesn't make the first one rigged. It just makes it a better play - in theory.

Photos not withstanding,😀 this brings up something I was thinking about doing laundry a couple days ago.
I don’t really like gambling. I do love playing poker or Screw your buddy with friends.
The laundromat i use has a bunch of those PA games of skill, and I usually see the same people playing those things on my infrequent visits.
I guess if you get good at it, you can make them pay a little.
My disposable income is always hoarded so when I have enough, I can go buy reloading components!😀
I never dropped a nickel in a slot machine. Hell, I never been inside a casino! I even consider the lottery a tax on stupid people! The only time I e ever bought a ticket is when a group of us do it together. I don’t wanna be the guy who wouldn’t chip in, should they hit the jackpot!😀
Care to satisfy my curiosity?

I don't express myself well on things. Your example has people knowing exactly what the situation is. With slots, they don't. Beyond that, I have no trust whatsoever in "computer generated numbers" being the same as actual odds. An "honest" mechanical setup should provide odds strictly on the possibilities. When you get to electronic set-up, the machines can easily be set to adjust the natural outcomes. "Loosest slots, to me, says that we adjust ours to give a more honest outcome than "they" do. A similar situation exists in an internet baseball league I am in where the outcomes are based on the roll of 3 dice. The game makes all sorts of adjustments that alter the odds of each combination of numbers being something other than what their natural odds are. Again, I explain poorly.

The American Casino guide states -

Gaming regulations require that gaming machines in casinos be programmed to pay back no less than 80% and no more than 99.9%. For video gaming machines at locations other than casinos, the law requires a minimum return of 80% and a maximum return of 94%.

I would assume then that a "looser" slot machine is somewhere between 85% and 99.9% then - or whatever number. Theoretically speaking to raise that floor, means it has to pay out more often?

The Las Vegas slots are supposed to be the ones that pay out the highest percentage and the Indian casino slots the lowest. My cousin did a lot of the programming for the Nevada slots when he lived out there. A buddy managed three casinos in Deadwood and said that those slots are nothing but a computer and “one armed bandit” is exactly what they are. Zero skill required to lose money or hit a pay out. I walked into a casino in Perth once and saw a game where a guy was flipping a coin off a paddle and you bet on heads or tails. Never saw one like that before. The first wife went to the Indian casino more than I knew and I’m sure lost a bunch. She did forget to mention that she had won $2,500. but did remember to tell me when we were on the way to the accountant to do our taxes!

The translation of "Loosest Slots" is "Lose Less at Slots." Because you won't win, but you might lose less.
