Thought I had a 3/4 size stith mount set up for a 99, well I do but for the rear ring that sits inside the tang mount. What I thought was the ring is for a 7/8 size, I'd be happy to trade it for a 3\4 one or purchase a 3/4 one! Already checked with Lightfoot and missedbycracky. So check out the back of the work bench, in the box back in a conner. I know someone must have one somewhere! Thanks John
I was not able to help in this case, but for future reference I have a lot of front tubes in 3/4, 7/8 and 1", but only odds and ends of rear stuff for the 99. I also have some complete sets for Winchester model 70, along with a bushel of odds and ends for various other rifles.
I can't rember the last time I saw any Stith stuff at a gun show. I also have the MD 70 mount, and parts! My buddys and I talked on the way home from the gun show yesterday, that most of the good old stuff seems to be gone from the shows. Now just old junk left!
I have at least a box for each type but have a lot more sets without boxes. I bought a couple of just boxes a couple years ago and was pleased about it.
found one NIB also. it's for 7/8". box says for an Alaskan. box end

My Very 1st 99, a saddlering Carbine, I put a 3/4 Sitith set up on it, have had 6-7 ,7-8 set ups and a couple of 1" ones! They tended to work well, and have taken game with them!
kenster, it appears to have never been mounted on a rifle

Same here. I've always had a problem passing on an old Weaver with condition. I rounded them all up and put them in a data base a few years back. I was at a little over 100 and have added a few since then. By the time I decide to start selling no one will want them.
In earlier days those Weaver 2.5x1" and Redfield 2 3/4x were on all the .22s I plinked with. Now it's 4x16's and 6x24's off the bench.

Oh I'm sure I'll want them. lol. I'm so addicted to these old things. I have a bunch of cardboard mailing tubes with the plastic end caps. Wrap them in packaging foam, put a desiccant pack in and label the outside. Stores them pretty well. Last count I had 73. I swap them around on different guns pretty frequently. Yes, I have no life.
I have way more scopes than mounts. Every time I spend a bunch on a vintage scope, the very next auction I see one for half the price, so I buy it to. My version of dollar cost averaging.
Pix of my Savage Model 99H Carbine c. 1938 emphasizing fasteners in Weaver/Stith scope setup. Taking advantage of the tang mount holes as securing the aft base as displacing the barrel aft sight dovetail forward. The scope is a Weaver and I'm guessing early postwar vintage. (I'd have preferred Lyman Alaskan!) An entirety, a neat package.
Hopefully 'visual' informative re Stith informative!
