Buying a set of dies is not going down a rathole. Your imagination seems rather limited. Better just sell it before you do something real stupid. Your right, some dies and I'll be good to go, thats all that's needed. Guess my imagination is tied up with being active duty military, a husband, father of four and everything else in this life that isn't elective. When I do find time to devote to making rounds and load development it goes to one of the dozen other calipers that I shoot. Maybe somday when I am retired and have more time on my hands then sense I'll load for everything. Until then .222 is something that I dont have time to mess with right now. Sell it and buy what you want. If you rechamber it, you will be stuck with a 223 that has a 1-14" not a 1-12" twist. When you finally decide you don't want it, you will lose more than the cost of the rechambering when you do sell it.

I just bought a little Sako in 223 for some other parts and may not use the 223 barrel.

Update, I couldn't bring myself to put this lil gem under the knife. Was able to work a trade on a .223 with another Fire member. Thank you Eric.

I would rebarrel it with a new .223 barrel with. Quick twist. Something he wants and will use.
The gun is a shooter grade gun. The action's rear bridge has been drilled. The stock is in rough shape and altered with a recoil pad added.
It has no collector's value.

I have a DeLuxe Vixen that started as a .222, and someone ran a .223 reamer into it. Understandably, it now shoots .223 and 5.56 ammo, both of which are cheaper and more available than .222. Also, a .222 won't reliably turn out a coyote's lights immediately with a body shot but a .222 Magnum or a .223 usually will. It drives tacks all day with any 50-55 grain ammo I care to feed it, but I don't know if it will stabilize heavier bullets.
They ruined its collector value when they rechambered it, but I have $500 tied up in the rig, including a Leupold Vari-X II scope. I got it for a great deal at just the machinery value so not overly concerned about collector value.
If II feel the need to shoot heavier bullets, I can do that in my 7-twist AR. Or my .243. Or 250 Savage.

Well, people sure didn’t beat down my door to get my own Sako L461 Vixen in .222 RM with a 10 x Redfield. Long time ago before the Internet, but even back them finding .222 RM factory ammo was near impossible and I didn’t reload.
My other auto is a .45
