What breed and how many do you have? In another video that came up after your other one was over, I thought I counted 5?

Do they live with the sheep all of the time? Do they come home to eat and head back out to do their jobs again?

Those types of working dogs fascinate me, that is why I ask.

8 at the moment.

The original ones were Great Pyrenees and the stud dog was Anatolian Sheppard.

We got a batch of pups and sold a few of them. They were 50 50 GP and AS.

Then....one of the pups got bred by her brother....and we got three more.

They are good dogs.

They are with the sheep 24/7. We keep a sheep proof dog feeder out in the pasture for them.

Sometimes some of them leave to chase something off...or they will come home to make a patrol.

One or two might stay if there are sheep and lambs at home.

They are pretty incredible animals and it has been fun learning about them.
Very cool. We don't have any working dogs around here anymore just house pets but they are good alarm dogs. A possum can't walk across the back yard at night without they let us know.
Are y’all Pards now? Thank goodness. Sheesh

He said he got to keep 45,000.

I will have to ask him next time i see him how it turned out.

You may need to factor in all that is withheld from that 90K. Social Security, Medicare, State Taxes, Insurance, etc. But it sounds about right that half of 90K would go in his pocket, all things considered.

Jim, that's an interesting mix. Did you purposefully breed the first GP and AS? If so, what gave you the idea? Is it a common combo for such work?

I think that’s because in the month that you were paid the bonus, that huge pay check was seen as a paycheck that someone in a higher tax bracket would get.

Our first dog was a Pyrenees/Kangal cross. He was fixed though.

The Anatolian we got next was intact.

Next came the two GP bitch pups. We were more or less trying to find enough dogs to do the job at that time.

The cross came about out of necessity really...but we were excited because Anatolians are a little more aggressive than GPs usually. Anatolians also tend to post up outside the sheep on a high spot and watch. Even working the perimeter...where as GP are in the herd all the time.

We figured it would be a good cross...and it was.

Yep. That's how it was when I received my annual STIP bonus from my employer.

Our bonus’s ( twice a year) are taxed at 41 percent, counting all deductions, It’s a painful hit,

If it did indeed push me into a temporary higher tax bracket, then you would think I still wouldn’t be getting hammered at the end of year, But I am,,,, makes no sense. It never fugging ends…..

Blackshart, you pooped your pants, again....

I just did some quick math.

Our 'household' spending is around $500 per day so far this year. $40k/80 days into '24. That is called working for your welfare and reinvesting all your cheese back into America.

Your household? You, your wife in a dwelling? Or the farming operation, the buis. a diff.

That's not including any work related expenses, just household chit, it's crazy!
