All politics are local,at least that's what Tip O'Neill believed. It's usually good news when such an area as Delray Beach is flipped.

Delray Beach mayoral seat flips Republican, area strongly voted for Biden in 2020.

Delray Beach elected a new Republican mayor on Tuesday, marking a stark shift from the deeply pro-President Joe Biden area in 2020.

Carney won the seat with just over 51% of the vote, according to unofficial results. The second place competitor finished with 38% and the third place competitor finished with only 10%. Both of his opponents were Democrats.

The Republican Party of Florida congratulated Carney on his victory.

“Republican Tom Carney has been elected Mayor of Delray Beach! That’s ANOTHER flip for the @FloridaGOP tonight. Congrats Mayor-elect Carney! #KeepFloridaWinning,” the party said.

According to Carney’s campaign website, his goals include fighting overdevelopment and traffic congestion, supporting public safety, promoting fiscal responsibility and reductions in property taxes.

Additionally, Carney hopes to protect Delray Beach’s residents’ “unique quality of life” and make city hall more “user friendly.”

The mayor-elect’s campaign specifically highlighted “gridlock, soaring prices and bloated government” as the main issues to combat in the community.

Carney has experience working in corporations, partnerships and real estate. He formerly served as a Delray Beach commissioner and active mayor for a brief period of time.

Besides being endorsed by the Florida GOP, Carney was also supported by publications like the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post.

By product of the D party cancelling the primary in Florida once Biden had his delegates prior.

Real smart bunch the Florida Democrats. Immediately drops support for all down ballot D's.

dang, that sure was not reported by the lefty press up here in North FL. Most of that area is populated with yankee migrants and hispanics. A Republican winning there is significant.

Rte & Mannlicher: Indeed "good news" for, and by Republicans, is somewhat rare these days - and worthy of note.
Thanks for the heads up.

Why would anyone want to be a big city mayor? Most of them have been under Dem rule for decades and they're filthy, crime and drug ridden hellholes. If I was appointed mayor of one, I wouldn't have a clue as to how to deal with it...legally, that is. There's a lot I could do illegally.

Is he a MAGA Republican or an Establishment Republican. Did Trump endorse him?

BS. Fake Nues. No way. The Ds have the important elections locked. Rs have no chance. Dominion Internet flipping. Mules and illegal ballots. America is history. Don't upset the "We have no chance" story.

You assume he is a Trump Republican and not another RINO POS, why, what evidence do you have.

Republicans need all them help they can get.

Not that they deserve any help.

Look at what happened in Congress...

They passed that pork filled CR... without even observing their own 72 HR rule.

Republicans ...my ass. They are all Dems, almost all.

Don't forget, the Republicans are gradually leaving Congress to hand the majority over to the Democrats shortly, possibly before the election.
