To each his own I suppose.
I'm a Ruger fan and love the 25-06 but I've never got warm with any Laminate rifle.
Not for me and especially for that many pennies.

Several things coming into play here. One- it's a 25-06 which is hot right now so that drives anything up. Two- lefties have few options left for CRF actions and this is one. I myself really like the M77 MK II and have found it to be both reliable and accurate- I'd say others have as well. Three- Stainless/grey lam is coming back into fashion again. Personally I really like the combo. While I love traditional figured walnut and gloss blued rifles, I hate to actually hunt with them because I don't want to ruin the beauty. The stainless/laminate both looks good and holds up well to the hardships of hunting. Has to be a pretty significant scratch/ding to notice it on these and rusting is a minimal worry. People are realizing the benefits of that. All these are currently combining to drive the prices up, but I agree, it's too much. Got lucky and landed one locally for $650 a few months ago. Sent it in to Ruger for a refurb- they replaced the trigger with the new LC6, replaced all the action screws, gave me new rings because for some odd reason the ones that came on the gun shipped with blued hardware which had rusted, and did an amazing refinish job on the stock to bring the grey back out. It only cost me $100 and they had it back to me in 10 days. Pretty hard to beat that!

I like Walnut myself and have been looking for a cpl left hand bolt guns for 1 son and myself but the premium on them is tough to swallow...scarcity keeps the bid up I guess.

Sent you a PM with a lead. Don't know what your price range is, but currently a good deal on this one. No ties to it, just looked at it myself recently

Have owned several M77 LH through the years. Nothing specific against them because they are a workable option for lefties, but I always felt like they were pretty crude compared to a M70 that could be had for not a ton more $ in many cases. M77 triggers were some of the worst I've used on mainstream BA rifles.

I do like laminate/ss rigs. Warmth of wood on a cold day, better structural stability, a little extra weight - which does a lot of rigs a favor.

I been looking to buy one of these rifles in 25-06, 270, or 30-06 to rebarrel to a 9.3x62 and everyone seems to be hanging on to them. Can't say I blame them. I might end up using a stainless Savage for a donor.

I was doing similar, except it will be a rebore to 35 Whelen. Ended up getting a good deal on a Browning A-bolt II stainless stalker in .30-06, so that's out getting work done now
