That's been my experience. If the desired item is listed as being able to backorder, it's usually not too long before it ships, maybe a couple weeks.

I mostly have VERY good luck placing backorders with them. It took a year to get .222 and .45 Auto rim brass though.... It has to be a good business model to be able to have most of a production run sold before you start up the line cool

As far as I know they never raised their prices either.

Yep, prefect timing and a short enough list.

I got so accustom to searching for components during the shortages that I bought Starline brass when it shows up as available for back order or in stock almost on auto pilot. I need to stop doing that and just focus on loading what I have in stock.... It's a good problem to have....

Bulk ball ammo is inferior to hand loaded V Max ammo used on p/dogs

V Max bullets do a quick humane kill....with lots of aerial action-------- grin

Agreed, but at the range my grandkids make short work of ball ammo. I save most hand loads for myself. We don't have pdogs. But we have squeaks, I use the 17 hmr on those mostly. Might even get some shooting next week, snow melts and a warm day or two, will bring them out!

I would love to see the model they use to determine when to make a run of brass.
I wonder if they are making brass for other commercial users and when one of those orders comes up they just throw in an extra million or two for Starline sales.

45-70 was listed as "Back Order", someone on the net said likely available soon, month or so later I had a box in the mail!

Fortunately or unfortunately I likely have a lifetimes supply of brass on hand for any caliber that I shoot . . . and some that I do not . . .

Well . . . maybe not 7.92X57!

My days of loading 45-70 ammo to dangerous game stopping levels are well behind me now. The 250 45-70 brass I bought from SL should last well past me when loaded at moderate cast bullet levels.

Its been my experience that if they say backorder I've gotten it in a weeks time. The exception to this was a recent 45-70 order that took a little over 4 weeks.

Last year I ordered 38 Super+P, 41 Magnum, 222 Remington and 41 Magnum all backordered and all arrived in a week or so.

Keep them annealed, and the rim will wear out first. grin All kidding aside, it helps the Starline brass seal up with low-pressure loads.

I've stocked enough .45-70 that I doubt I'll run out. I still load some semi-sporty loads for levers, but also shoot a Uberti reproduction Highwall a lot, using loads that are BP duplication.

I also have enough .460 Rowland, .45 Super, .45 +P, and .30 Carbine to last awhile.

I used to put a lot of effort into finding spent brass. Brass catchers, putting out big tarps to shoot beside, counting found brass... Now I might wait until the lawn has been recently mowed and just grab the obvious ones.

I'm a really frugal (cheap) guy. This is a big change for me cool

Have a few areas where people shoot....public land

Can usually find 1X'd brass from non reloaders

Kinda like an Easter egg hunt...

Along with that...trash can be a problem

So along with picking up brass 'litter'

Cans & other stuff needs picked up too

Some people are littering slobs........

Soooo

Does anyone know what Star Line calls a "run of brass"?
I am sure it is somewhat based on caliber/demand.
How many thousand(s)/millions in a good run?

Starline brass is good stuff and it's a good idea to stock up when it's available

I use Lapua brass in my '06 rifles, but when I saw this 250 pc bag of Starline .30-06 brass in stock online at "pre-covid" pricing, I had to jump on it, even though I have several 5 gallon buckets full of range brass collected over the years

I’m always happy to help get a new shooter going. I’ll be sure to put a bow on the box. Brass is better than a toaster any day.

I have some backorder ship soon with them but my 358 win backorder took about 2 years. I love starline pistol brass and have used it for years. Now I've been stocking up on their rifle stuff too. I've bought decent amounts of 223, 6 arc, 6 Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 grendel, 7-08, 30-06, 350 legend, 358 win, 444, and 45/70. All have been great.

It sure was. So there's a caveat to tikkanut's message. They sure won't be filling my backorder for 348 Win or 445 Supermag in any days coming soon.
