"Cold war anxieties about the atomic and hydrogen bomb generated lots of bizarre cultural responses from Miss Atom Bomb beauty contests in Las Vegas to honeymoons spent in fallout shelters. In the spring of 1953 trained dancer and Vegas showgirl Sally McCloskey danced from the top of Angel's peak just 30 miles from the Nevada test site, to the detonation of an airborne nuclear bomb. The bomb was the fourth in a series of eleven explosions conducted as part of operation Upshot-Knothole in 1953."
