is some nasty sticky chit.

builder I do a lot of work for called me up this morning and asked if I could do him a favor run by a condo I did for a couple of months back and fill in a couple of canister light holes in the ceiling. I tried shooting it up in there and that crap fell out all over me.
don't think I'll ever get it all off. I went back earlier and covered the holes with cardboard and poked a hole to stick the nozzle through and fill it up, don't want to ever get this chit on me again.

Thanks for posting that. Was thinking of using on some bare spots in the attic/crawlspace. I'll just unroll a bit more fluff instead.

Keep it in the hole. Apply pressure. Fills the gap. Great Stuff!

Acetone if you can get it before it dries.

May work on dried as well.

We use lots of OSI window and door foam. It’ll ruin your clothes PDQ. Lol

Eventually comes off your skin.

I have used this by the case when doing chinking on my log cabins. Yes, it takes more than 24 cans to do a single log cabin.




You spray it in, it fills in all the gaps and makes a perfect weather tight seal. Then you cut off the excess.



But what a mess! Of course I use disposable gloves, but still you get Great Stuff on your hands, in your hair etc. Alcohol won't remove it from your skin, mineral spirits won't remove it. All you can do is let it wear off, takes about 4 days.

If you cant get it off with acetone or deisel right away and use it until its off, then let it dry. DONT rub it . Just let it puff up and dry on you.

Then peel it off. It takes some skin, but it comes off clean.

Trying to get it off before dry without a good solvent makes a bigger mess.

Obviously, its best ot avoid getting it where it doesnt belong

Gone 18 years, only 6 guys in the plant knew him, the stories still get told.



His wife was helping him foam the doors and windows in their newly purchased house, the can valve stuck open.
So they started scooping it up with their hands and pushing it into the gaps!

Danny came to work that night with 2" OD fingers.
He tried everything we had, toluene, MEK, MIBK, acetone....nothing worked.
A women there suggested trying hairspray. After picking off everything possible,
the hairspray softened it enough to get it off.

It is really great if you can get it where it needs to go. I buy the cheap tyvek suits for medium/big jobs. The window/door variety is fantastic for keeping the inevitable corner leaks around window bottoms and door sills from doing too much internal damage. I especially like it for below grade and basement look out windows that often get snow drifts over them for several months.

Acetone works but you have to get it right away. I built boats for a year.. we sprayed lots of foam.

Never heard about the hair spray. Will have to file that but I doubt we have any around. May go buy a can and put it in the barn just in case.

Formosan termites apparently love the stuff.

Buy the DAP brand - It's water soluble/cleanup. Available at all the big box stores.

It’s some tenacious stuff when it dries on skin. If it’s still fresh lacquer thinner or acetone works well. Just don’t wait hours till you get home otherwise you practically have to let the solvents soak before the foam loosen up.

Never heard of hairspray as a solvent, but might do the trick.

I got some in my whiskers one time not fun

I got some in my beard every day I used it, and I would use it for about ten days in a row doing chinking.
Nothing to do but get out the scissors and cut out a chunk of beard.

Great! Try some capitalization and commas in the meantime!

Yeah the stuff is a pain in the neck. What you really don't want to get in your whiskers is a good dollop of Tink's Doe-in Heat though.

My mom had her 2x6 walls done in her new house…. Them pour mesicans that do it all day for a living….. even in full tyveck suits they had that chit all over their hands,arms, and faces.

That stuff is unforgiving and nasty, especially when it first came out. There's no way to control the flow and gravity will pull a murphy on you. Got my ass scorched before on account of it.
