Spotted this sporterized Mauser at Cabelas. What is the action? The front ring has been altered, right? Pics in photo gallery

Looks like a commercial Oberndorf Mauser type B. I don’t see any proof marks or serial number though. If there were a serial number and proof marks you could get in the ball park on what year it was made. Proofs and serial number should be on the receiver ring forward of the Mauser Werke roll mark.

The sidewall and rear bridge markings are correct for the 1935 guns made for the State Police of Chile. The front ring would have been marked with the National crest and a motto which was not overly attractive. That is my vote anyway.......
