How long to get Shipping Lane open to Balto? Are heavy lift floating cranes and underwater demo crews on the way as we speak to clear the channel or will this be another Government "Charlie Foxtrot"?

Wouldn't this be a perfect opportunity for SeaBees to get some real world experience?

China Joe says the Feds are going to do it.

Which means most of us will be dead before it's open again.

Vehicles can still go around, but the channel being blocked will have a huge economic impact. Aren't there some RoRo military ships stuck there too? Would think it's critical to get bridge debris cleared and shipping flowing again. Seems like this administration is set on destroying the country, so wondering how this will play out.

The priority, obviously, will be to clear the channel section first. There is already a monster floating crane on site. How long it will take to get the bridge pieces up will depend on how twisted/broken/tangled they are. That's a job for divers.

The only somewhat good thing is that the crash didn't happen in the middle of winter. At least most of the heavy recovery can be done in the summertime.

Ahh but the whole thing is now tied up in reparations and diversity hires conundrum so I guess it depends on quality of diversity hires.

After a couple of dozen "diversity" divers drown, it might be a little hard to hire replacements for them.

I was looking at Google earth of how many docks are inside the wreck. They could hold a BUNCH of ships. It's hard to say how many were actually trapped in port, though.

They dont give a chit. Its all about diversity and pandering to the black vote.

https://thehill.com/opinion/civil-r...dustry-and-the-francis-scott-key-bridge/

The collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge is an opportunity for Biden to change the storyline. The bridge, a major conduit over the Baltimore Harbor, collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship Tuesday. It spans more than 1.5 miles across the Patapsco River and, as a major connecting point for the region, will need to be rebuilt.

Biden can use the rebuilding process to champion Black labor in the construction industry. If done right, he can incorporate the issue in his efforts to generate enthusiasm among Black working-class men broadly. He can use it to demonstrate awareness of how the civil construction industry needs to address a history of excluding Black labor.

Throughout his term, Biden has fumbled moments to crusade for racial reforms in construction and, in particular, to stand with Black men seeking skilled jobs and contracting opportunities. The high rates of displacement and discouragement stem from a history of union racism and contractor preference for immigrants. As such, the racial demographic in the construction industry is now 60 percent white, 30 percent Hispanic, and 5 percent Black American, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Bound to set some kind of record for graft and corruption- - - -politicians and union bosses getting fat and happy with under the table kickbacks, and more than a few bucks finding their way into the pockets of organized crime!

Bridge construction may end up full of DEI hires, but having been around heavy lift guys, any knuckleheads on the crews to remove the bridge will be relegated to sweeping up, making coffee, or useless stern watch duties. Guys that can be cut in half by a bad rigging aren't to be trifled with.

Nope they will be fired. The Feds are calling the shots. Do as we say or no pay. Just like the military and the jab, or anybody that does major business with dot gov.

Won’t they have to do an environmental assessment first?🤣

Maybe we should start a pool. $5 in for closest to the day and hour the channel is open for shipping.

I've already picked May 3 at noon.

It would help if they had a proper crane like the one I used in Korea.
