99% sure the SA were 24" as well, unless that was just the 6mm Remington.

My 7mm-08 SS is not a Mountain rifle it has sporter barrel

Not doubting you one bit but I wonder if that was a special run from Grices or one of the other distributors.

A little more research yesterday still shows all standard chamberings in the BDL SS as having a 24" barrel as have the one I owned or was around. A 22" barrel would make more sense and be a bit more handy for most hunting situations.
