I've read online that the rear bridge is lower on these older Remingtons? What is the correct way to mount a scope on these? I was thinking Talley lightweights. Don't really want a rail on this age of gun, just seems out of place. Do I need to shim the back mount? And how do I know how much to shim?
Thanks guys.

You don’t need shims. Call Talley

They do mounts just for the older rifles? I have a bucket full of old Talley mounts. But if new ones means no shim I'm all for picking up a new set.

Not being married to any particular political party sure makes it a lot easier to look at the world more objectively... Having said that, MAGA.

That's what I thought too. Saw a couple things online where the old ones are slightly lower...maybe they're not...

The diameter of the rear "ring" on older 700's is .017" smaller, so a shim or specific bases/base ring combo will be needed.
History repeats itself because it worked. If it didn’t work in the first place, it wouldn’t be history but another lost story of insignificance.
