Nice. H&M job?

I had to fit a new cylinder stop to mine last week but it’s back in action now. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

Just spent a couple days poking around the H&M shop in Jacksonville FL. Most impressive setup, I can tell you. I had some parts Black Nitride treated while I was (conveniently) there on other business:

That particular Model 15 had some “yugoly” exterior finish wear and spots of minor rust pitting on the cylinder and frame corners. Depending on how the Black Nitride finish is intended to look, light sandblasting can be part of the pre-process preparation. That was done on this revolver, so evidence of the pitting is now very hard to find.

AND, I believe that Black Nitride treatment makes a gun drool resistant, too.

That looks really good. 2" model 15s are great revolvers, shoot better than a 2" should

Some very nice looking 15 snubbies here.

Normally I would consider such treatment of a vintage S&W revolver to be an egregious offense, but I'm just sitting here frantically trying to think of something negative to say and it's just not coming to me.
That is simply an amazing piece!

BTW, did anyone else see the new-in-box 15-3 snubbie that just sold on Gunbroker a few days ago for $1775?

Holy crap! About fifteen years ago I had a chance at one for about a third that price. Not new in box, but like new, and a -3. I came close, but couldn't justify the expense to myself. Wish I had bought it.

It belongs to a close friend, a retired police chief, who had it Black Nitride treated at my suggestion, mostly due to the ugly finish blemishes, pre-existing from when he had bought it used. As he’s a dedicated hiker of the high Sierras, it became his weatherproof, scratch proof, backpacking gun. More recently, it wears the brushed bronze Tyler T-Grip I got him for it as a birthday present a couple years ago.

This is my more-than-slightly altered S&W Model 15-3 2”, which was Black Nitride treated as the finishing touch:

I can almost hear the mournful cries in agony from the strict preservationists. However, it had already served me well for years as a 2” in “snubby only” competitions after I had ground its frame into round butt configuration and re-serrated it. As the years passed, I noticed it to be more than a bit too hefty for carrying around concealed, anymore (though I easily carried it concealed in my youth). So, the time had come for it to grow a more prominent nose so it could take on and master new challenges:

…, like how to get those two groups to print together at 50 yards over sandbags.
