My pack has necessities on top, ( tp, extra can of chew, snack and tags) they are the only thing I need every day hunting. I do take small first aid kit and extra gloves which are next. A mult tool for gun related stuff and collection of favorite knives are next . Rope and meat packing supplies in bottom. GUn parts in the form of an extra gun are in truck and when on prairie may have two extra guns and a shotgun in the event that partridges are around. Plus two revolvers, .22lr and 45 lc.....any actual gun repair is done at home. always only a half hour away....

Pretty much nothing in my “bag” on a day hunt …… snacks, first aid stuff, compass, 2 lights with spare batteries, additional clothing, rope/string, extra gloves, electrical tape, folding saw, 1 qt. of water, cell phone for photos, large sheath knife, ink pens, small piece of nylon reinforced lightweight plastic sheeting. That’s all I can think of at the moment.

At camp……lots of tools for any and all repairs from truck, SxS, camper, always have a spare scope in Leupold QD rings already zero’d and ready to hunt, spare binoculars, back-up (elcheapo) spotting scope, ammo, ect., ect., ect. memtb

SOP. As the saying goes "one is none, two is one".

As I always hunt with my wife…..each of us always has a backup rifle. Both are zero’d the same, though her’s has a shorter LOP and a bit less recoil. It would be a little more difficult for her to adapt to my LOP…..but when shooting at game, the additional recoil would be a non-issue! memtb

There is nothing like taking the antenna off the pickup to use as a cleaning rod to push out a stuck case.

Always have my multi-tool along with a GI cleaning kit from back in the day. That's about it.

Although I usually have a second rifle back at the truck, I worry more about what I am carrying to field dress and elk.

I usually tape my muzzle up by never use black!
I use green, lavender, brown and blue🤣

Same and I have a spare Leupold 1-5x scope in Talley QR rings already sighted in for my 500 Jeffery, so if my primary one gets damaged I can just swap it and still be within 1/2" at 100 yards.

Only one tool......a backup rifle.....

I picked up the idea of bringing along a spare scope, already sighted-in and mounted in rings, from reading one of Mule Deer's articles - or it may have been in one of his books. I've never had to use it, but it's been a comfort to have along.

Re a backup rifle - I was surprised to learn that on my Alaska grizzly hunt, the guide/outfitter discouraged me from bringing a second rifle - there's just not much room in those itty-bitty planes! There were four rifles in camp anyway, so if one failed, it would be easy to use another.

My own rifle care kit is pretty minimal, but it'll take care of most problems that could arise.

I carry a small takedown cleaning kit in my day pack and always have a Leatherman on my belt.
That is about it for day trips.
Out of town trips, I usually have another rifle.
