Saw this a few days ago here on the 'Fire, and it caused a bit of a flashback.

Thing that I haven't worked out goes to an old song by Bob Seger, "Her Strut".

What I'm confused about is the lyrics. Goes like this: "They do respect her but/butt, They love to watch her strut." I don't trust the internet, so my question is this: Do they respect her butt, or but? More to the point, do YOU respect her butt? Or is it "but".

It's OK to come out of the closet on this, let me know your thoughts please.

What makes Porch Girl great is the fact you can tell the butt isn't injection or fat. See the proportions of the thighs to butt - it's muscle/fit and perfectly sized.

As to Bob - I'm going to go with "but" not "butt" for Bob. Just the way he goes about singing it has me feeling this is more of a conjunction, not a noun.

Thanks! I've been leaning toward the Two T's notion for some time. Thinkin' that Bob was just bein' clever. grin

He had the greatest song of all time about getting laid without saying "getting laid" in Night Moves. I just think using the butt for but isn't clever enough for him.

Honestly, Bob might be a little underrated as a "wordsmith of a generation/scene".

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

Don't know who that cutie is in the boots and hat but she deserves acknowledgement!

Bob Seger wrote “Her Strut” after he watched Jane Fonda make an impassioned plea for women’s rights and all of the men just watched her body.

It cracks me up every time I hear that song
