While I do not have any "new" liberal friends so to speak, I do have some folks I went through kindergarten to our senior year together. It's not uncommon for us to have coffee together in the mornings. It's hard for me to get my head around how some of my classmates, growing up in the same small town together, having the same style of up bringing, have drifted so far from our communities values. I just can't walk away from guys that aside from political views, are by all measurements, good dads, good providers and generally good people. So, I usually don't call them a moron (fat) first if I want to work on changing their mind (making me a ham sandwich). Dialogue is key, and I can say, on three occasions so far, I've gotten guys to change their party affiliations. Two black friends and one Caucasian. No women..........women are too emotional as a rule to talk civilly about politics. Their compassion is totally irrational.
