I traded into a KP1 last year and have come to like it more than my Encore. The problem was finding new barrels. Mine came with a 45/70, a 300 Win Mag and a 50 cal muzzle loader barrel. Well I hate black powder and switched to Savage smokeless years ago. That means the 50 cal isn't of any use to me. So my plan was to convert the 45/70 into a smokeless muzzle loader. That left the 300 Win mag which is more gun than I need around here and my neck doesn't like recoil so I was almost thinking I made a bad trade. Then a buddy of mine said he knew a guy with 45/70 barrels and would do the conversion. So I got him to make the conversion and love it. Used it this hunting season and the difference in recoil was really nice.
So I went back out to his shop and come to find out he had 8 other barrels. So now I have a 22lr, 17 HMR, 270, 308, 30-06, 2 - 300 Win Mags, 2 - 45/70 and the 50 cal muzzle loader.
Wondering if any one has any other barrels I could trade with on some of these. I could keep, trade or sell either of the two rimfires. The 270 and 308 the same. I would definately be interested in trading or selling the 30-06, 300 Win mag or 50 cal barrels. I would like to find a 223, 243 or 25-06 or others.
For now mainly just seeing if anyone else is using this rifle platform and what their thoughts are on it. Bill

I got mine about 2009. I have 204 Ruger , a .270 a 4570, and. A muzzle loader barrel. Mine is the sandstone laminate stock. I really like it. I killed a mule deer with my 270 and a whitetail with my ML.

I got a doe with the 45/70 set up with a 40 cal sabotted muzle loader. I'm hoping to hunt with the 270 barrel this year.

Is this, the KP1, the Knight single shot?

I'll be selling my extra barrels when I get back from a trip. Wasn't sure I would have time to finish the transactions before I left. PM me if your interested in a caliber and I'll give you first dibs when I return.

I have 2 frames and several barrels. 17 HMR/308/45-70 and another I just do not remember just now. I have 2 frames b/c one is original trigger group and the 2nd is the "improved" trigger group. The original trigger group gun (the 2 trigger groups can be swapped in 2 minutes) has a really good trigger - except that about 1/2 the time firing the gun locks up the action, requiring barrel removal to open the action. The "improved" trigger group is allegedly improved to solve a problem with uncommanded firing. It does fire every time I pull the trigger but the trigger is simply not nearly as good as the original. The original is about as good as my best Contender triggers. One of these days I will spend the time to figure out the issue with each trigger. As to the barrels, they are all plenty accurate for any shooting or hunting I do. The 17 hmr is just a sweet little gun. RAS

RSherburne, was not aware of the 2 trigger groups. Do you know how to tell the difference between the 2 groups? Would love to knowwhich one I have. I haven't had any issues but haven't shot mine that much. Bill

Good luck with yours , mine was "minute of pie plate" with 270, 223 and 300wm. Think I'd know better after the first barrel.
It had the new trigger group.
Sold it years ago.

I have a stainless synthetic KP1 with .50, .17 HMR, .223, .30-06 & .45-70 barrels. Haven't really shot it much, just a couple rounds through the .223 and the .45-70 was bought used. At one time I had a 20ga. slug barrel but sold it to someone here on the 'fire. Mine still has the first version trigger. IIRC the new style trigger does not have the hammer safety lever and the trigger has a flatter contour than the original. I've kept my eyes open for a laminated stock set for mine but when I've found them they're more $$ than I paid for the rifle ($250)
