Those are $200-$350 on ebay. Like everyone has said, here, they are damn good scopes. Work great on a rimfire, for sure. Good on you for giving that one a good home.

Nikons were much better, when they had a warranty if something went wrong. The funny thing about that, though, is that rarely happened. They were/are pretty utilitarian with good lines. At least the older ones were more svelte than the newer ones. Good robust scopes with decent glass for the money. Some tracked better than others as well.

Herky?

More like downright awful, like looking through the tube off a roll of paper towels.

I much preferred the 3-9 over the 2-10x38. The 2-10 was very poor on 2 power and not much better the rest of the way up. The 3-9 was good and so was the 1-3. The 2-7 was ok. The v16 4-16 was always good.

I recently purchased a second Ruger Hawkeye Compact for my boy to use for his upcoming first deer season and with the help of campfire member TPAK was able to outfit it with an excellent condition Weaver Classic K4 4x38. What a fantastic scope for what they use to sell for and perfect for this little rifle. Too bad they aren’t an available option anymore. It’s all the scope one really needs in our neck of the woods.

Nikons were weird, because the buckmasters were always better than the prostaff models. Then they did a flip flop, and tried to make the prostaff better in the last years of production. I've always liked Nikon, from their pre monarch, to UCC, then buckmaster line with the AO and later side focus. They all seemed to work good. I think my favorite was the Monarch UCC because the newer Monarch was too big and bulky. I've seen some UCC models sell for $200.00 on ebay, but wouldn't call it a $200.00 scope per se.

I have a lot of older Weaver's going all the way back to El Paso. Of course they don't have a warranty now but I'll gamble. I have a couple of the excellent T-36's on rimfire benchrest rifles. I expect they were "MANAGED" OUT OF BUSINESS !!!!

I like the Weavers. I have a couple of V16's on rimfires and they are great in that application.

For big game rifles, I have a number of Burris Full Field II's with the ballistic plex reticle. They have always been solid and a good value.
