While the LEUPOLD VX-5HD and VX-6HD have same glass I believe the Duplex in the 5HD models is a much wider Duplex than that in the 6HD models and I think they may be a bit thicker inner plex lines on the 6HD as well. I have heard this before too. Maybe it depends on what models and reticle. I compared one of my 3-15x44 side by side to the 3-18x44 6HD and it is virtually identical. Both standard duplex firedot

Yes, the one variable I have on a big game rifle is an older Leupold 2.5-8x36. The major reason I haven’t replaced it with a fixed power is because many years ago I sent it to Premier Reticles for one of their special reticles — I believe it is a 4A. That’s a great combination on my 30-06. Older members here may remember when that was commonly done and then for some reason the relationship between Leupold and Premier felt apart. Woodsy- I had Premier put a 4a on a 6x42 M8 years back. Is on a rifle for a fellow fire member's son now.

I learned a lesson there — if I like something and want it, buy it now. I really liked my Premier reticle and thought I would get more. But by the time I got around to it, they were no longer available.
