I have a Remington 870 LW 20 gauge. I understand the 20 LW and 28 share the same frame. I need an uncheckered forend and found some at Numrich. They have one that says for a 20, but they told me on the phone it is a standard 20. They also have one for a 28 gauge but didn't know if it would fit my 20. Will a 28-gauge forend fit a 20?

Thanks.

An 870 LW28 gauge for-end will not fit a 870 LW20.

The 28 gauge 870 magazine tube is smaller in diameter than the LW20. The inside diameter of the LW28 for-end is to small to fit over the tube of a LW20 slide.

I suppose the right person with the right equipment might be able to enlarge the hole in 28 gauge for-end?

The problem with enlarging the hole to fit the larger tube diameter is easy to see if you look at the wood left at each end. When you remove nearly an eighth of an inch on the inside the remaining edge is very sharp and weak. All of the flat on the front edge is cut away.

Cutting the hole bigger is no trick...
