Ready for edge, Teardrop Jack knife with Wharncliffe blade. This was inspired by a Japanese maker Ohta

3 3/8" closed

Scales are stabilized spalted hackberry wood

CPM-154 blade and spring, hand rubbed satin finish on blade

hollow ground

SS liners, end caps, pinned shield

escutcheon nails and spun head

Light pull (when long pull is closer to the pivot, I don't like heavy nail breaker pull)

Bronze washers

fluted, threaded, some black dye in the threads









This was a previous one that I had to trash, but was experimenting with scratch engraving on micarta and filling with black dye:

One more A2 Lambfoot in Hackberry with burgundy G10 Liners

Keep them coming!

Last of the lambsfeet for a little bit. This one also A2 wrapped in Hackberry (no liner). Just need to put edge on and mark serial #34 on it. Next on deck is 4" Barlow and Gunstock in 14CN28. This will be a new stainless steel for me. After that I am going to try a single spring, 2 blade.

Challenges I am working on are improving the spun pins. Key limiter is using basic drill press. Mini mill with ability for much slower speeds is plan to mitigate combined with better polishing with cratex. Spines continue to be a challenge to achieve that complete blend between liner and spring. Thinner grinding, more refined inside of springs. Action that balances walk/talk and desired heavy pulls, with smooth action.
