Looked at the first one I"ve seen in person this morning. New and priced at $850 or thereabouts. Nice piece of wood. had hoped it had the heavier bbl profile - I LIKE the heavy one. Also loked at a 31 in .38 at $650 or so but knowing my .405 was out back on lay-a-way, I needed to resist a bit longer. Maybe after the new year...

Barrel is much lighter. I'll try to get a pic of my Lott with the 450/400 to show the difference, however, I'm having trouble with glare from the barrels making the pic unclear.

Here's an OK pic comparing the barrels. Pic doesn't really show the difference. Once you pic the two up you can really tell the difference. 450/400 on top.

Still about 5 listed on gunbroker. All quite plain stocks although the cheapest($750) has about the nicest wood of the ones with pics.

I'm still waiting for some ammo. I'm guessing, even with the lighter weight, it will be less than my Lott! :0

You plan on reloading for this cartridge? Can you take a grizzly where you do your hunting? Would be a neat cartridge (and potent) to put a hurtin' on a bear.

I plan to reload it eventually. For now, factory will do and provide me with some empties.

Grizzly hunt in AB was recently suspended but, hopefully, that will change soon. Also, not far to the NWT or Yukon to get one someday. Not sure I'd take this rifle as I have other big bores. I may well use it for a big blackie some time soon though. (or maybe even a moose sometime soon)

Heading to Cabelas in a few weeks. I hope to get some ammo then. If I can, it should be ready for a spring bear hunt.

Now we're talking! grin What's the factory offerings for this cartridge? What bullets?

I noticed they are already offering ammo loaded with the new DGS solid. I wonder when the new DGX expanded will replace the current RN?

The 450/400 is on the Ruger site now! (Now if they would just put a .450 No 2 on there! wink )
