I have a 5 shot Savage .22 NRA or model 23 clip in near new condition to trade for a clip for a Febiger .22 Short clip or for a 1903 Savage clip. I would also sell this clip or trade it for 2 of the Triple K reproduction Savage 1903 clips. If any of you have a 7 shot clip that looks like a 1903 Savage clip but is not as wide this is probably a Febiger - Baker Batavia 22 short clip and I would be interested in trading for it or buying it.
I just acquired a Febiger .22 short pump only rifle that I need to find or make a clip for. Please help!!!

Red,

You are deep into the pumps if you need one of those. Good luck.

Anyone have a mag for a 1912?

I tried a 1909 mag in the 1912 two days ago and it just jams the empty case before the next one is loaded.

It works great in the 1909 though.

There must be a difference in them as I've heard of people complaining of the same thing with their 1912's.

I see G.B. has some listed for the 1912, just wondering if the repro's aren't a generic make for both the 1909 and the 1912 which means I'd buy it and it won't work still.

There used to be an auction for a 1912 and it came with a box with 10 mags in it, wish I'd remembered to see who won it and hit them up for one.

Triple K makes a 1912 specific magazine but I do not know how well it works. I have heard that the ones they make for the 1903/1909 don't work all that well so I would not be to confident that 1912 would either.

That auction for the 1912 with actually a box of 15 magazines and went twice on AuctionArms with out getting close to the reserve. The reserve wasn't listed but the seller stated that the magazines had been bringing $150 each on eBay. This is the same gun and magazines that sold about a year ago seperatly for some good money on GunBroker - I have the prices written somewhere but can't find it right now. I do know that the mags (only 14 with the box - one went with the gun) sold for at least $65 a piece and I think the gun brought around $500 to $600. On AuctionArms I asked the seller were he got his price estimate on the magazines and he says he has gotten $150 for 1903's in the past and didn't seem to feel he should get any less now for the 1912's. It took me about 2 years to find a 1912 magazine for mine and I felt lucky to get it then. The bottom of most 1912 magazines are pinned in and the parts catalogs list a different spring and carrier part # for them.

Hi Red,

Looks like I'm about 8hrs too late. If you have no takers, I'd be interested in buying the magazine if it's the same type as pictured in my post today about "adding another savage".

Thanks,
Mike

I imagine, I don't have a 1912 mag to try in it. I was just thinking it jammed cause the mag was from a 1909/1903. Spring tension would make alot of sense if that was the difference in them, now I just gotta find one.

I am going to wait through the weekend in case someone reads the post and has a Febiger or original 1903 to trade me as this is what I prefer. I will decide on which of the kind offers I have received early next week.
Thanks to all of you who have been responding.
On another note, there is a 1912 with 2 1912 mags on Auction arms now but with a $400 starting price and a reserve so who knows what it would cost to buy it. If one of you who needs an original 1912 automatic mag has deep pockets this might be a method to get the mag and then you could resell the rifle with one mag to recoup you funds.

Can someone post a picture of what a 1912 magazine looks like? That way if I see one when rummaging through the bins at Gun Shows I'll know what I should be looking for.

Thanks,
Mike

The first picture is of a 1912 magazine that does not have the bottom plate pinned in - it's the picture from the box of 15 that was on AuctionArms - this is the first and only one I have seen that did not have the pin. The seller did not answer my question about all the magzines being that way and I think when these were an GUNBROKER the magazine he had pictured was pinned.

In this picture you can see the pin in the 1912 magazine at the bottom, also there are two 1903 magazines and the top magazine is a Febiger/Baker 22 Short which is what Red is in need of (that one is not an extra, I have a gun)

How do you tell if its 1912 vs 1903? Whether it says automatic on the side?

Yep, thats what it looks like to me.

Pretty sure that if the 1903 mags are real hard to find originals in then the 1912's are gonna be a real bugger.

Thanks for posting the photos. I'll keep my eye out for Febiger and 1912 magazines.

As long as this is covering both Febiger/Bakers and the 1912's I had this picture of my Febiger pump, semi-auto (looks just like the pump!) and my 1912 that I thought maybe of interest. Febiger also made a LR version but I do not know what the magazine looked like other than similar to a Savage.
