What's a good 20ga. load for Lesser Canadians? I have a Rem. 870 that will shoot up to 3" mag. shells. Full choke barrel. Before the RemChoke days. The birds have started to show up in my neighborhood. Any reasonable advice is welcome.

With the full choke barrel I wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting anything other than bismuth or Kent tungsten Matrix shells. After a very cursory look, it seems that the Kent shell will be easiest found. Kent 3" No. 3 shot would do the trick for lessors. This stuff ain't cheap by any stretch. Midway lists it at nearly $3.25 per trigger pull, but it's safe in your barrel.
A weekends shooting of this stuff may make a replacement barrel with choke tubes look like a bargain. Less expensive would be to have a gun smith open the choke to modified allowing the use of steel shot. Depending on the age of your gun, even opening the choke restriction may not be the best bet as some older barrels can be scored by steel shot much more easily than barrels of recent production. I really like the idea of getting an after market barrel with tubes and shooting quality steel #2s at lessors.

Thanks, BullGoose.

I may have seen that at Sportsmans Warehouse in Anchorage. I'll be in Anchorage later this week. I'd love to get another barrel for it. Just don't have the money right now. Maybe by fall I can do that. I'll check with Remmington in the meantime for factory advice.

Good hunting to you.

Kent Faststeel #3 are a pretty decent load, and not too much money. My son used them for lesser Canada's a couple of years. Get your full choke reamed out to modified, - about a $50 job and then you're all set to shoot steel. You'll never miss full choke for upland hunting either.
