I showed my Afghan interpretor some kill shot pictures from back home. He was amazed that we shoot and eat bears. It was pretty funny.

So Mike, when you get back, does that offer to show me how to process my own deer still stand?
got screwed at the butcher shop big time this year....
both on the meet I got and the price they charged...
don't know if you saw them when I posted them,... got a 175 lb black tail buck about 1/2 mile from home.. or less...also shot a bear that charged me.. once I surprised it...

Sounds like you had a great season. I won't be home until 2009, but sure I'm always around to help take care of a good animal. It's easier than it looks. With bears I've been boning them out on the ground and packing out the meat, hide and head. It's a lot cheaper to drop off boned out meat at the butcher because they always wieght what you bring in. Why pay for the bones?

Well Mike, I hope Christa and the kids are doing well with you gone playing GI Joe...keep in touch and keep safe over there...
will keep a spot open for you for going over to Klamath in the spring of 2009...
you should be able to show the rest of us some real fancy shootin' by then...

Bear hunting starts again Saturday-I think I'm just going to take pictures and make it a date with a country girl, she can hold the gun. For dinner, bacon breakfast burrito all the way!!! For ''us'' of course.LOL!!

Ninja, A good breakfast burrito would really hit the spot. I should have leave during fall bear so we'll have to grab a breakfast burrito and hit the hills. Good luck this weekend and spank a biggun.

John,
I'll take you up on the sage rats, sounds like a ton of fun. We'll have to bring the boys along. That area where we bumped into each other out in the woods deer hunting, has some good bears in it. I've seen a few decent ones in the past couple of years. Think the green side down below where you said that spike bull was killed.
