Anyone know the story behind the Savage 755a shotgun? I know they made them from 1948-1959, it's recoil operated and I got one really cheap.

Looks like a variation on their 720.......a browning auto 5 knock off. The only other thing I know about them is they kick pretty good!

The 755 was made under the Browning patent. I bought mine CHEAP in 98% condition. Never had it fail and I take it to sporting clay tornaments and hunting and do well at that.

Is the pictured shotgun a 16ga with a portion of the butt stock cut off and replaced (under the pad)?

There are many better-made Auto5 variations available. Originally a cheap route to a new Auto5, with a modern, "sleek" look. About as sleek looking as Larry the Cable Guy. Not as funny though.

I have a couple of the predecessors (720) from WWII & just sold a 720 marketed by Western Auto Parts as a "Revelation 400" for $ 125. You can get them cheap......and they run, that's all that matters.

Nope, 12 gauge, not cut, and no butt plate under the pad. I found a pachy. pad under the bench that is a close fit. Still a good buy at $125?
