Your pictures are regularly un-REAL! DOF is PERFECT! EXIF please. rb

Thanks for the info. It will help a LOT in terms of getting me into the ballpark. Looking at a lot of EXIF info for images has been pretty good training. I appreciate yours!
GREAT shots!

Thanks guys. The first image really appeals to me because of the look she was giving me. At this moment, the cub wandered directly between the sow and myself. That's why she was keeping a very watchful eye on me. I know it's not the most exciting bear image out there, but it was very intense nonetheless. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Those are great shots. Funny you mention the sow's expression. I was just admiring the pics again and she certainly is alert!
How far away were you?

I'd have to guess the distance was about 50-60 yds. Not close enough to feel immediate danger, but I wouldn't have ventured much closer though... (or further away from the truck)

Sam -- Yea, it did seem plenty close. Thanks UtahLefty -- These images are very close to full frame, maybe cropped 10% or so to make up for poor framing on my part. The 1DmkIII retains great detail and ISO noise is very low, even at ISO-1250. I've made prints at ISO-2500 and noise levels are more than acceptable. Here's 100% crops, and it's really difficult to see any noise at all on my monitor. Please keep in mind that these could really use more processing for 100% viewing such as this, but just to check noise levels and detail they will work ok.

Hey Rob... I can't take it already brother...I really can't... Like Rick said you regularly take un-REAL images... It is really IMPRESSIVE... All your shots are....sooo REAL!!!! You are always blowing my mind and raising that bar... Not a bar that you choose to place here cause I know you are just humbly sharing your passion... But the bar I and others set for ourselves after drooling over these and ALL your images... Again, my wife and I salute you....We're AWE-STRUCK again... Its literally too much, MASTER....too much Aloha, Ro

Thanks Ro Really, it's all in having the right gear... I just point it around Gimmie good equipment, and good light, and I'll give you great images. Pretty simple I think. Tell ya what though, I didn't come along near as fast as you are. Your Africa images were fantastic, after only owning an SLR for a couple months. Now, that's impressive. Thanks again my friend, you're too kind.

thank you for the kind words Dave...I got a long ways to go but I'm very happy with how far I've come...now it becomes a bit more fascinating with the intricacies involved in taking my images to another level... I'm happy...but NOT satisfied with any of my images thus far and I'm hoping that attitude will help propel to produce better QUALITY images... I haven't had a chance to process to my satisfaction my Africa images yet...I hope I can do a few of them some justice... Right now I'm sitting in the batters' box and CS2 is throwing me a lot of curve balls...

LOL Well keep up the good work. I sure can't feel bad for any one in Hawaii that just got back from Africa! VTI #3 is killer. The range of the one series is just incredible.
