Never owned or shot a 35, so I cant say anything about them. 30-30 is a different story. I reload and have taken deer out to 225 yds with my Marlin 336. I use a 3-9x40 scope and have only missed 3 deer in 30+ years with the gun, still-hunt only. I have only had 1 deer get away and I only found 2 drops of blood, about 50 yds from where I shot the deer. Some deer run a little 30-75 yards, depending on where shot. Most drop in their tracks, again depending on where shot. Most shots are within 50 yds, but dont sell the gun short.

I recently bought my first 35 REM ( marlin 336). I haven't had a chance to shoot it yhis year, but I am going to next spring. I am eventually going to reload for it. Thought I would try the REM 200's first. Any comments?

Good choice - probably the best all around hunting bullet out there for the 35Rem. I buy the same bullets - 200gr. Remington SP_CLs - to reload. Everybody and their brother uses them and find they simply work well at 35Rem velocities.

As loaded by the factory I'd go 30-30. Consensus back home was that bullet upset was better. This is likely because 35 Rem is chronically underloaded at the factory.

Loaded to 38,000PSI it leaps ahead of the 30-30 when handloaded. Quite a bit of powder capacity in the case. Handloaded to its potential and it's quite a round!
