Thought I'd post a pic of a couple little "eaters" I shot this morning behind the house. They spend most of the nite in the rice fields and roost up in the flooded hardwoods behind my house during the day. Pot-roasted duck tonite!

Congrats on the nice looking ducks. Hope you're getting a lot more ducks than my friends in Arkansas have been.

I went duck hunting a couple times in central Arkansas over the holidays, but only got a couple of shots at one that was flying unbelievably low (only about 30 to 40 feet high) in a straight line right over me (can't believe I missed! -- I blame it on the surprise of the situation). The rest were flying much higher and wouldn't come in.

Of course, after opening day up there, nobody was having any luck on ducks, at least until the cold front came through this past week. Hoping to get a good report from my cousin and try them again up there over the next couple weeks. (I haven't lived in LA long enough to be considered a resident for hunting purposes (different story for tax purposes!), so I'm using my Arkansas lifetime license 'til next season.)

Good luck in the rest of the season.

Nice ducks. I must say that I think those mature wood ducks with all their colors showing are probably the most beautiful duck out there in my opinion. I've never hunted them before, but they're my favorite by far. When I go south, I'm going to make sure to get in a good duck hunt and bag myself one.

I had a pretty good year this year and last with duck hunting. I'll get around to posting some pictures on another thread.

Nice shotgun, too.
