Has anyone tried this cartridge?

GROM translates to "thunder" as far as I can tell, and the Prvi Partizan web site describes it as a premium bullet: the top half similar to a traditional lead/copper cup and core bullet, with the bottom half solid copper for deep penetration, sort of like the Nosler Partition.

I've tried it in my Ruger M77 tang-safety 7x57, and it shoots as well as the Federal 140gr factory load: right around 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on game, so I thought I'd put this note out there and see if anyone has hunted with it or has tested the bullet in some sort of medium like clay, phone books, etc.

The best part is the price: $11.59 a box from A1 Ammo, $12.99 from Midway. At 2460 fps, it has a point-blank range (+ or - 3 inches) right around 225 yards. This isn't a hotrod load, but it sure looks like it will get the job done.

Prvi Partizan

Where is this ammo made?

How is it so much cheaper than other brands as Prvi must have to pay the high cost of brass etc. as much as other brands?

A few years ago, maybe more than a few, I bought 500 rounds of the PRVI 7X57 175 grain FMJ under the old Hansen label at a very good price. The ammo shoots o.k., 2-3 inches at 100, is dirty, and the brass from that period is not the best. The brass is inconsistent in weight and primer pockets seem to go south after three or four full throttle loadings. I use it for cast lead bullets and practice ammo. All that said, I got it at such a good price it was a steal. With hand loads it shoots minute of elk very well, and the original factory load has no problem ringing the gong at 300. This newer brass and these latest loads are probably much better than the old stuff. The 9.3x62 ammo that I have used recently was pretty darn good.

I have used Privi Partizan in 7x57 and 8x57 for at least 15 years.Used to buy it at a ridiculous price at the old Navy Arms when they were still in NJ.The 8x57 196 gr. soft point is very accurate in several 8mm mauser rifles I own,and perhaps the best round I have ever used on Whitetails out to 200 yds.I wouldn't hesitate to use it further, just haven't had to.
In recent years I've shot their ammo in 30-30,.300 Winchester, and 9.3x62,very satisfactorilly at the range, but have not used those rounds on game.I have found accuracy to be on a par with the great majority of commercial ammo I have tried, generally around a 1 minute of angle performer or fractionally larger groups. It's not as ridiculously inexpensive as it used to be,but is still substantially less expensive than equivalent US loads.

I've been using Graf brass, made by PRVI, in my 9.3X62, and it has been good stuff. So far eleven factory equivalent loads with no case failures. Accuracy has been good with a variety of bullets and powder. I am convinced that the 9.3X62 is one of the most handloader friendly cartridges and the PRVI brass is part of my favorable experience.
