sorry if this has been covered already, but... Does anyone have any info on this unit? http://www.22lrconversions.com/atch-pg.htmprice looks pretty good, and i like the idea of using your barrel, instead of a different upper assembly. anyone ever try it out? thanks, mdv

the biggest problem with this unit or any one like it, is accuracy, or better, the lack of accuracy. a 22 lr has a hell of a jump to get into the barrel from the chamber and then the bore is to big for the bullet. but i never heard of any functioning issues with this one or the air force one.

For the price of a 10/22, I'd get the 10/22.

I tried one, it was extremely dirty dumping residue into the lower. Not very accurate and the unit I tried was not very reliable. Bought a 10/22 instead.

I have one....it has "tin can" accuracy and the daughter can shoot the real deal without the noise or expense of .223 ammo. Mine functions flawlessly. It is what it is.

You'll get dirt regardless, its a function of the 22 ammo. You can look for an old A1 upper in 12/14 twist and use it that way and have better results.
The accuracy is generally a chamber/barrel twist issue, as I've got a custom 22 upper with correct twist that shoots a ragged hole at 50 yards with correct ammo.

For the price of a 10/22, I'd get the 10/22. I don't have the $$ to put towards a 22lr upper/mags, etc. so to get some extra practice with my EoTech to improve my target acquisition, I just mount it on my 10/22....

Ifn' ya didn't drop all that smack into making a 10-22 what it should be to start with, you'd have been on the way to a 22 upper.... grins...

Yeah....but if you put 'em side by side, I'd still pick my 10/22 over an AR 22lr upper....

I probably would too if I didn't swear I'd take my hatred of bill ruger to my grave....
Though a flat top AR 22 upper can be pretty sweet...

I've thought the AR15 22LR conversion might have some application with the Aguila 60gr subsonics. They are supposedly best with a 1/9 twist barrel. I guess Green Mtn makes a 1/9 1022 barrel too, so it's a wash either way.

I'd bet the 10-22 to be a tad more reliable, of course my upper is custom on a krieger tube and much more reliable than standard conversions. Much more expensive too...but with a match 22 chamber.

I believe it was made with the Aguila 60gr bullet in mind....
