I have been asked to set up a log for the newly displaced Marlin Talkers. I want to wish you a warm welcome, and please email me at webmaster@24hourcampfire.com or send a Private Message (PM) if you have any question or issues.

I hope you guys make it over.

Rick Bin

Marlin Talk was a pretty good/classy forum and had numerous interesting, educated and helpful members(Coyote Hunter, Jackfish et al.).They would be a nice addition to an already outstanding site.

I'm glad we have somewhere to go. I had the same name on Marlin Talks. Hope to see Dali, Jh45 and the others. There were some great debates on MT.

THANK YOU! I know some users had grumblings about some of the stuff that went on at the MarlinTalk forum, but I really enjoyed the positive info that was shared there. MarlinTalk was responsible for me purchasing a 336SC and an 1895SS, and I've written Marlin a letter stating exactly that.

The great thing about the internet is that we can quickly switch to another forum like this one and keep going. Much thanks to RickBin!

Welcome to the 'fire! Always nice to have new members kicking around. Warning though ... you should be safe in this fourm ... but dare you venture out of here you will be in the word SUCKS, McMillan, Pac-nor and Leupold! It can be scarey (esp. for the wallet). 25-284, 257 ROY and a host of AI variants will hunt and haunt you.

Came to this forum knowing very little and now realize I know even less than when I started .... and I learned a lot.

Again, welcome to what very well may be one of the best hunting and shooting forums on the web, stick around long enough and you'll see Rick runs a top notch show.

Well....I guess somebody did something and arranged to allow me to post. I got a flashing envelope that told me I had a message but there was no message or I deleted it....or something. I hate computers, they are an invention of the devil.

Thank you to who ever fixed my problem. I'm glad to be here.

I was only a member of Marlin Talk for a few months but I got a lot of help and a bunch of questions answered there. I'm sure that the same will apply here.

Does anybody know why Marlin shut it down? Would a letter writing campaign to Marlin help to get it going again?

Thanks,

John

Well I made it thanks Rick for the space and the board!! It sounds like a few other places are welcoming the guys from the Marlin board at their sites also which of some I go to also so it sounds like we will be several places. I knew nothing of this board so if nothing else the demise of Marlin Talk may have helped some of these other fine folks so nothing wrong with that !! Jim

It is a shame Marlin Talk shutdown. I had learned much there and more importantly was entertained there on an almost nitely basis. But it is good to see some of you guys have made it here also, so the education can continue.

What happened was this:

Quote
The Marlin Firearms Company & H&R 1871/NEF- "Marlin Talk" Corporate Policy

We noted that Marlin Talk was cancelled because of technical and administrative considerations. As you all know, Marlin pays to have our website - including Marlin Talk - on the Internet. It is, therefore, a company sponsored feature. This makes Marlin responsible for what appears on the site. As you know, many statements, questions and recommendations appear on the site that may be factually wrong, provide dangerous information, or contradict Marlin safety instructions. Ideally, Marlin Talk entries that we disagree with or are just plain incorrect, should be answered by Marlin at the site in a timely manner. This task simply cannot be done because of lack of personnel - thus it is truly an administrative problem. To continue with Marlin Talk, leaving these concerns, questions, and issues unanswered, is a situation that we do not consider acceptable. To allow former Marlin Talk members the opportunity to retrieve e-mail addresses or download listed posts we are opening Marlin Talk, without the ability for users to post, until February 20, 2004. We apologize for any inconvenience that the discontinuance of Marlin Talk causes you, but due to a wide variety of issues we have no alternative choice. .

Glad to see everyone showing up and checking in.

Still sounds like there is something Marlin isn't telling us though. Maybe I'm just suspicious.

I was hoping that 24 hour Campfire would pick the pieces. What a surprise! One day left posts and the very next day Marlin took down the board.
I have been on 24 hour for some time, but not as heavy as always checking the Marlin site.
Also on the NAHC board.
Thanks for providing a home to the guys and gals from Marlin Talk!

I had been here to the CampFire in the past and am glad to see that Marlin Talk will live on - it was a great forum. I appreciate the owners of this forum adding a Marlin Talk section. Odessa

[color:"blue"] Im so darned glad to find you guys between here and beartooth, I could just cry (tears of joy of course)
I posted in the lever forum under Ricks suggestion on Marlin format and hopefully his greatness can set up the Marlin heading essentially the same as it used to be on MT.
I emailed Mr. Chabot with my sentiments about their tactics.
His head probably popped off and that is why I have not received a reply. Either that, or his mailbox is full.
Rick, I would like to extend my thanks here as well.

Hi Rick, thanks for the invite and for setting this up. I've been reading MT for 8 months and bought a 38-55CB and a 1894CB in 23-20 because of that site. These are the first two levers in my life and I couldn't be happier. I was dumb founded when Marlin pulled the plug, and with out any warning! Thanks to all great info I received from the guys on MT, I was able to get the 38-55 shooting under an inch at 100yds with no problems. I'll put out the details later. This is my first time commenting on any forum and I don't know if I'm doing this right? I hope everybody from MT comes here, there's too much info to be lost otherwise. Thanks to all of you from a lever wannabe. Ricosheawabbit

Well guys it almost feels like home, Ranger you always have been the emotinal one of the bunch (tears of joy). Thanks to all the regulars for letting us pile in like this, Rick will most likely have to do some changing on the board. If so, Rick, please let us know what we can do to cooperate and it is as good as done.

Thanks Rick. Marlin had a nice place; yours is "the" other one I liked. Now it's just this one.

Thanks for the welcome. It's good to see some of you guys here and at AR and Jesses. Man I feel like a bomb went off and we're all trying to find our way back together. I guess the there are better metaphors out there. Hope get to know some new peole and contribute what I can. I miss MT as a central location to all my friends there but I am not going to cry about it too much. I will say that this was a bad decsion on Marlins part, but I will still buy their rifles.
