I was thinking we need to make a list of Hunting and Shooting "Trueisms" or maybe Axioms is a better word. Well anyway here's a couple of mine:
A hit in the Vitals with smaller gun is better than a bad hit with a bigger one.
In optics you have to pay a lot more to get something a little bit better.
You can't own to much ammo or have too many guns, but you can have too small a house, or too little money to put them in or buy them with.
If the Guns you own are worth more than the house they are in, you might be a gun looney (and/or a redneck).

"In optics you have to pay a lot more to get something a little bit better."
Addendum to the above: All optics can fail. For this reason you want to purchase the most expensive optics available. If you do that, you can use this as an excuse when your expensive optics let you down while still maintaining the right to smugly tell anyone whose lesser optics fail that they should have spent the money for the best.

The internet makes most guns shoot better, but only if "I do my part".

Good things happen to those that move.
Drill the shoulders with a good bullet and critter dies.

Only accurate rifles are interesting.
The .30-06 is never a mistake.
Bullets from the .270 go through animals too fast to expand.
